Customer testimonial

”I had a fungus in my right 1st toe nail for 10 years and used 3 bottles of loceryl but it just kept growing until it had taken over most of the nail. My doctor said to stay away from drugs because I was wanting to get pregnant again and also the drugs could affect my liver.
I went to Advanced Podiatry in Camberwell for laser treatment and now I have a clear, fungal free nail.

Some of the common questions for this treatment
Call us at (03) 9882 7221 or email us if you couldn't find an answer to your questions here
  • How does this treatment work?
  • An Advanced Podiatrist will pass the laser over the nail, gently heating the nail plate and nail bed to a temperature between 42 and 46 degrees. At this temperature most fungus will die.
  • Why laser treatment?
  • Other treatments including topical paints such as Loceryl and Canesten only have a 6-8% success rate, and oral medication can cause complications such as liver irritation, skin rash, fatigue and nausea. Laser nail treatment has no adverse reaction or side effects.
  • What results can I expect?
  • Advanced Podiatry has treated over 2,500 cases of fungal nails. We are the leading and most experienced podiatry clinic in this field. Our retrospective study shows a greater than 80% treatment success rate of this condition.
  • Does it hurt?
  • The treatment doesn't hurt, it feels like your toe is warming in the sun. Sometimes near the end of the treatment you might feel a warm pinch.
  • How long does the procedure take?
  • An average of 40-60 minutes.
  • Can the infection return?
  • As with any infection to which you don’t have resistance, if you are re-exposed to the fungus it is possible your nail could become re-infected. This is why we strongly believe you need to combine prevention with laser treatment to have the most successful outcome. Advanced Podiatry will provide you with prevention guidelines. Our retrospective research of 2,500 patients indicates a prevention program will reduce your chance of reinfection by 70%.
  • Is this treatment covered by health insurance?
  • The item number for laser podiatry treatment is F145. If you have private health insurance you may receive a rebate for the treatment.
